The Uluguru nature forest reserve located in Morogoro region(just slightly south of Morogoro town) is one of the diverse hotspot in the eastern arc Mountains block with 4 birds, 26 plants species, 11 reptiles, two mammals which are endemic here, including one african violet and an orchid, the habitat comprises montane, submontane and grasslands with swampy areas. The area is an important bird area (IBA) and covers an area of 24115.09 ha. There are several endemic bird species here such as the Uluguru Bushshrike, Uluguru Mountain Greenbul, Yellow throated mountain greenbuls, Loveridge’s Sunbird and others which are near endemic and endemic to the eastern arc Mountains alone. The reserve comprises of Uluguru north and south, Bunduki i and ii and the Bunduki gal, where trees are being planted to provide a connection between the north and the south. The most unique thing about this Mountains is that the species richness decreases with altitudes but number of endemic species increases with increase in altitude. The beauty of this Mountains is unrivalled, from the alluring green hill tops to the noisy waterfalls, the famous being Bondwa and Lupanga peaks.
